It’s been 33 years since the Talking Heads released their legendary concert film, Stop Making Sense. Directed by Academy Award winner Jonathan Demme, Stop Making Sense has been hailed as one of the greatest concert films of all time. As The Cap's first show of 2017, Pink Talking Fish will be doing a full rendition of the film, interjected with Pink Floyd and Phish songs! We're counting down the days until this monster night of music, and we thought you'd like to know why we think Pink Talking Fish at The Cap will be one of the greatest celebrations ever.

1. A celebration of legendary music

The film Stop Making Sense features the Talking Heads performing some of their greatest hits, such as "Psycho Killer" and "Burning Down The House." In typical Pink Talking Fish fashion, these iconic tunes will take their own shape by incorporating songs by Phish and Pink Floyd. It's happening ONLY at The Cap!

2. An all-star line up

Okay, so have you seen the lineup joining Pink Talking Fish? Purveyors of fine funk like Leo Nocentelli of The Meters, The Turkuaz Horns, Shira Elias and Sammi Garret of Turkuaz, Jen Durkin of Deep Banana Blackout, and Adrian Tramontano of Kung Fu are joining the party. We're also getting the magic of Jon Braun from Talking Heads tribute band, Start Making Sense, sprinkled on our stage! You can only catch these artists performing together on The Cap stage! 3. This isn't your average show

Stop Making Sense is known for its stunning theatrical work, with surprises like the legendary Big Suit and the Fred Astaire dance moves! We hope to see some of these great twists and turns at The Cap.

4. Reed Mathis & Electric Beethoven will kick start the night

Yes, you heard right. Just when you thought this night couldn’t get any better, our friend Reed Mathis brings his band Electric Beethoven to open the show! Get to The Cap early to catch Reed Mathis of Billy & the Kids and Tea Leaf Green, Jay Lane from Primus, Cochrane McMillan from Tea Leaf Green, guitarist Clay Welch, and Todd Stoops of RAQ playing modern day interpretations of classic Beethoven symphonies! 5. One of the greatest concert films ever

Deemed by Entertainment Weekly as one of the 50 greatest independent films of all time, Stop Making Sense propelled the Talking Heads into a pop-culture legend. Directed by Academy Award winning director Jonathan Demme, the film won the National Society of Film Critics Award for best documentary in 1984. Pink Talking Fish has some big shoes to fill, and we have no doubt that they will live up to our expectations.

Cinematographer Jordan Cronenwelth was named one of the 10 most influential cinematographers of all time by the International Cinematographers Guild. 3. The filming of Stop Making Sense spanned three live shows at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, CA. An entire night of shooting was dedicated almost entirely to wide shots from a distance to minimize the intrusion of cameras on stage during the film. 4. The album spent more than 2 years (118 weeks) on the Billboard 200 chart. 5. In 1999, Stop Making Sense was re-released for the concert’s 15th anniversary of the film.
